Dr. David Jayne has been Professor of Clinical Autoimmunity in the Department of Medicine at the University of Cambridge since 2017. He is a certified nephrologist and an Honorary Consultant Physician at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, UK. Dr. Jayne received his MB BChir in Surgery and Medicine from Cambridge University. He received postgraduate training at several London hospitals and Harvard University. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and Edinburgh, and the Academy of Medical Science.
He directs a large severe inflammatory disease clinical service that focuses on patients with vasculitis and SLE. Dr. Jayne’s research includes investigator-initiated international trials and the introduction of newer therapies in vasculitis and SLE with collaborators from five continents. His group also conducts translational research into the pathophysiology and drug responses of vasculitis and SLE. In 2021 he received the European Renal Association award for outstanding contributions to nephrology. Dr. Jayne is a medical advisor to UK, U.S. and EU regulatory bodies, patient groups, and professional organizations. His work has been published in more than 600 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and reviews. He was elected the first President of the European Vasculitis Society in 2011 and co-chairs the EULAR task force on lupus nephritis.

Domenico Prisco is full professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Florence (since 2004) and Director of the Interdisciplinary Internal Medicine Unit of the Careggi University Hospital. Graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the same university, where he specialized in Internal Medicine and Hematology. His scientific activity initially focused on the role of coronary prostaglandins and the lipid composition of platelet membranes; he then studied the immunological factors involved in atherogenesis and coronary atherosclerosis; he then dedicated himself to the study of systemic autoimmune diseases, such as SLE and vasculitis, delving into their pathophysiological, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects. Prisco has held numerous prestigious positions in the scientific field, including advisor and president of the Italian Society for the Study of Haemostasis and Thrombosis (SISET), advisor and secretary of the Federation of Centers for the diagnosis of thrombosis and the surveillance of antithrombotic therapies ( FCSA), and was part of the Atherosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology Study Group of the Italian Federation of Cardiology.

On the editorial level, Prisco had an important role, first as Chairman of the Operative Group, from 2006 to 2009, and then as Editor-in-Chief of Internal and Emergency Medicine, journal of the Italian Society of Internal Medicine, from 2009 to 2021 In recent years he has played a crucial role in the direction and international editorial development of the magazine of which he is still a member. He has also previously served on the editorial boards of several journals, including Thrombosis Research, Haematologica, and the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis. He is part of the editorial board of Thrombosis Journal. Professor Prisco is the author of over 450 scientific publications.

Carlo Salvarani, MD, is Professor of Rheumatology at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy. He leads a vasculitis care and research team investigating the pathogenesis, epidemiology, treatment and outcomes of various form of vasculitis, particularly giant cell arteritis, Takayasu arteritis, CNS vasculitis, Behçet’s disease and periaortitis.
He also has clinical and research interests in polymyalgia rheumatica and psoriatic arthritis. Dr. Salvarani has authored over 800 full-length publications on various aspects of vasculitis and other rheumatic diseases. He serves as reviewer for leading  medical journals.

He graduated in Medicine and specialised in Nephrology at the University of Parma, Italy, He was post-doctoral fellow at the Emory University, Atlanta, USA, and finally got a PhD in Nephrology at the University of Parma. He worked as a Nephrology Consultant at the University Hospital of Parma until 2018, when he moved to the University of Florence.
His main areas of interest are systemic small-vessel vasculitis, IgG4-related disease, lupus nephritis and Erdheim-Chester disease. He is one of the coordinators of the European EGPA Study Group and a member of the EUVAS scientific council. He published 300 papers in international, peer-reviewed journals and was an invited speaker in >60 international meetings.

Giacomo Emmi, MD, PhD, is a clinical immunologist currently working in Trieste, Italy. He is full Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Trieste, and Chief of the Internal Medicine Unit at the Cattinara University Hospital. He is also Associate Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Monash University, Melbourne, Australia.
His main clinical and research interests are focused on systemic autoimmune diseases, among which Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and systemic vasculitis. In the last years he particularly developed a large experience in the management and care of patients with Behçet syndrome and Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (EGPA).
He also serves as co-coordinator of the European EGPA Study Group, coordinator of the FAIRVASC project, vice-President of the International Society for Behçet Disease (ISBD), and member of the scientific council of the European Society for Vasculitis (EUVAS).
Giacomo Emmi is author or co-author of about 350 papers in the field of systemic autoimmune diseases, co-convenor of the European recommendations for the management of EGPA, and member of the EULAR task force for the update on the management of patients with Behçet syndrome.
